There is a lot to be said for EXPERIENCE. Below is a list of the benefits you get from buying your Body Jewelry from Happy Dave. Benefits you don’t get anywhere else.
Quality body jewelry is made of implant grade surgical steel. The retailer should be able to show you the ASTM* certificates from the manufacturer. Happy only uses certified implant grade jewelry for all his piercings. The health and safety of his clients comes first and using the proper jewelry is the first step to guaranteeing that. All of Happy’s metal jewelry is Autoclave sterilized before use.
The best quality studs and barbells are threaded internally. Internal threading hurts less going in. However, externally threaded pieces are usually less expensive. Happy carries both types so you can choose which ever you prefer.
There are many precious stones, semi-precious stones and crystals available for barbells and studs. Swarovoski crystals are the most commonly used crystals for this type of body jewelry. Imported from Wattens, Austria, these crystals are admired the world over for their brilliance and clarity.
The setting of a gem is an often overlooked, but essential aspect of body jewelry. A flawed setting can allow the gem to wiggle loose and be lost. The hammer bezel setting is the most common setting on barbells. The metal is curled over the gem to hold it in place. With this method, the stones stay firmly in place even when Autoclave sterilized. A prong setting is the usual setting for studs and has proven reliable.
Jewelry with glued gems cannot be sterilized because the glue will melt. Furthermore, the gems often loosen during ordinary wear and tear. A piece of jewelry with a properly set gem will prove to be a better investment in the long term.
STERLING SILVER : is not hypoallergenic and should not be used in body piercings.
STAINLESS STEEL : is the most common metal used for body piercings. Happy only uses implant grade surgical steel as recommended by ASTM.
TITANIUM : is the second most common metal used for body piercings. It is lighter and stronger than surgical steel. People with metal sensitivity have fewer reactions to titanium than to surgical steel. It is, however, more expensive.
GOLD : 14 & 18 Karat gold are mixed with other metals to strengthen it. People with metal sensitivities and/or allergies may have a serious reaction. Gold plated jewelry should never be used as body jewelry.
If you have any specific questions about choosing your body jewelry feel free to ask Happy.
